Board Member: VICTOR VIERECK
Treasurer
Homeowner - Area 6

In 1966 Vic Viereck became a Certified Public Accountant and began serving his clientele by preparing income tax returns, payroll tax returns, financial statements, and consulting regarding real estate investments and business financing. Gradually accumulating his own residential rental properties, he has dedicated more than 40 years to serving the needs of his apartment tenants, including substantially rehabilitating properties for the tenants' benefit. By 1978 Vic Viereck also earned his Real Estate Broker's license.

Vic Viereck's experience includes more than 26 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he served as Senior Auditor, Accounting Analyst, Senior Accounting Analyst, and ultimately as Head Accountant. In the latter capacity he accounted for the District's $100+ million annual food service program throughout more than 500 school cafeterias. He was also responsible for the preparation of complex financial statements and subsidy claims which were routinely submitted to school administrators, the LAUSD Board of Education, and various state and federal government agencies. During that period Vic Viereck also served six years as voluntary chairman of the credit committee for the Los Angeles School Employees Federal Credit Union where he established standard guidelines for consumer and real estate loans, coordinated loan review meetings and either approved or declined loan applications on a weekly basis. From 1978 to 1981 he enjoyed coaching American Youth Soccer Teams.

Since 1992 Vic Viereck has volunteered at the Southland Regional Association of Realtors where he serves on the Professional Standards Committee, and has served on the Grievance and Government Affairs Committees (still a member), winning the Outstanding Committee Member Award in 1998. He served on the North Hollywood Project Area Committee for the North Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency, is an active member of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association, the California Housing Providers Coalition, the Universal City North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Greater Valley Glen (Neighborhood) Council (as its first Treasurer, until February 2006, and again starting in July 2008), Valley Vote (as Treasurer on the Executive Committee)(see "www.valleyvote.org"), Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils, and is the President of the North Valley Village Neighborhood Association (formerly known as North Hollywood Residents Association). In July 2003 Vic was elected as Chairman of the UCNH Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee, and is President of the Chamber's Board of Directors. On the Project Area Committee he actively sought to make the extravagant Community Redevelopment Agency accountable to the public. He was also the President of the Kiwanis Club in North Hollywood from October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005, and is the club's Advisor to the North Hollywood High School Key Club. As an active member of the Los Angeles Affordable Housing Crisis Task Force Vic Viereck opposed the majority's recommendation of an additional $95 million of taxes annually. He wrote the task force's minority report, which is in the Appendix of the resulting report "In Short Supply." It is also a separate page in this web site. Nominated by the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles, Vic is one of three apartment owner representatives on the City of Los Angeles seven member Citizens Oversight Committee regarding the study of the Rent Stabilization Ordinance. Through the Greater Valley Glen Council he was appointed to the South (San Fernando) Valley Budget Committee, and elected there from to the Mayor's Regional (Neighborhood Council)Budget Committee.

Due to his concern about the financially destructive impact of the city's housing policies on the city's fiscal condition, Vic Viereck has run for two political offices. In 2001 he was one of eleven candidates who ran for the Los Angeles City Council 5th District. The runoff, between Tom Hayden and Jack Weiss, was won by Jack Weiss. In 2002 Vic was one of seven candidates to run for the new (if approved by voters) Valley City Council(12th District). He overcame the Daily News endorsements of two of his rivals, and won the election. While voters in the Valley supported the Valley's independence, voters in the rest of Los Angeles defeated it.
